Cedar Park Remodel
The Cedar Park Remodel reimagines a series of existing spaces to improve light, flow, and overall functionality, while maintaining a strong connection to the character of the original home. The design focuses on opening up previously compartmentalized areas and creating a more cohesive living environment.
The kitchen remains in its original location, but its relationship to adjacent spaces is completely transformed. By removing the wall between the kitchen and dining room, the plan opens up to allow for better circulation, increased natural light, and more opportunities for gathering. The updated layout introduces additional seating and creates a more connected and flexible main living area.
Furthering this sense of openness, the walls surrounding the basement stair were removed. This intervention visually and physically links the main level to the lower level, while new skylights above the stair bring natural light deep into the home, improving both levels in a simple but impactful way.
Storage and everyday functions were addressed through the addition of a new mudroom. Designed with custom-built cabinetry, this space provides much-needed organization while creating a clear transition between exterior and interior.
Material expression is intentionally restrained. Rift white oak cabinetry and soft, neutral tiles establish a calm and cohesive interior palette that emphasizes light and texture without overwhelming the space.
On the exterior, the home was completely resided using a custom siding profile that reflects the character and era of the original structure. A bold, dark paint color was selected to complement the established landscaping, giving the home a refreshed identity while remaining grounded in its context.
The result is a thoughtful renovation that balances openness and function, bringing new life to the home while respecting its original qualities.
